For many years, I have successfully formed therapeutic relationships with individuals or couples, to understand their issues, and support them in managing stressors and remove barriers. May your issues arise from an inability to cope with the present due to stress, depression, and anxiety; or from life transitions, sexual orientation, sexual dysfunction, grief, and substance use. I work from a person-centered approach, to help you to find balance and resilience to improve your ability to function better. I use my training and knowledge to create with you a solution to reflect your life and choices.
I am a Registered Social Worker, with Master and Bachelor of Social Work degrees, and post-graduate certifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Interpersonal Mediation, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Trauma Counselling, and Motivational Interviewing.
I have 16 years of experience working for the Ontario Public service, especially in Human Rights which informs my worldview. By day I am employed at a hospital, working with adults, of all ages, who represent diverse populations and identify with various ethnic, religious, and cultural communities including refugees, newcomers, and the LGBTQ* communities.
I provide faith-based therapy for clients who identify as Muslim and provide services in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
I am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
